Shoe re-do

So I have this old pair of strappy leather DV wedges that I wear all the time. I also have the Target knockoff version because I have this weird compulsion where I need two of everything in case something happens to one of them. You know how you fall in love with something and you know you’ll wear it/use it all the time and you can already see the day when you have to retire it so you buy two of it to avoid the heartache? No? Pretend you do.

The DVs are quite worn and it was getting a little embarrassing to wear them but of course I didn’t have the heart to get rid of them. Enter this super fun and glittery pair of Kate Spade sandals and I knew what I had to do.

I carefully cut the old cork around the edges of the DVs with an Exacto knife and then peeled it off.

See how sad and gross the backs are? The left one was worse.

Here it is stripped and ready for Mod Podge.

I painted it all over with Mod Podge and then shook glitter over it to coat completely.

Notice the shoe is over a wax paper lined shoebox lid to catch the excess glitter. Glitter ain’t cheap, yo.

Once the glitter layer dried (I waited about an hour), I applied a second coat of Mod Podge to seal it.

Not quite the wow factor of the Kate Spades but I am quite happy with how they turned out. They’re like a brand new pair of shoes and I am no longer embarrassed to wear them!
